POWERING AUSTRALIA’S MOST ADVANCED PLANT SCIENCE FACILITY

Commenced in August 2022, the University of Queensland’s Plant Grow Facility is a first-of-its-kind research building in Australia. Designed for advanced plant science, the $44 million project features highly controlled grow rooms, PC2 laboratories, and a rooftop glasshouse to replicate natural conditions with precision. The facility will provide a world-class platform for agricultural and biological research when completed in 2024.

Viking Industrial was contracted by Klenner Murphy Electrical (KME) to supply and install a custom-built 1000kVA open-set standby generator. Powered by a Baudouin engine with a Leroy Somer alternator, the unit was designed for accessibility, reliability, and ease of servicing. To meet the building’s unique operational requirements, Viking also integrated tailored exhaust systems and secured a service contract to ensure ongoing performance and support.
