Commenced in April 2023, Project EnergyConnect is a landmark infrastructure project linking the power grids of New South Wales and South Australia via a new 330kV high-voltage transmission line from Robertstown to Wagga Wagga. Backed by joint Federal and SA Government funding, the project strengthens Australia’s energy network and supports the nation’s transition to a more reliable and secure electricity supply.
To support construction and site operations, Viking Industrial supplied and installed multiple Tomahawk generators across Camps 6 and 7. This included three 500kVA Cummins units with a 20,000L fuel cell and transfer system, as well as three 200kVA Volvo units supported by a 10,000L fuel cell and main switchboard. Together, these systems ensured continuous, reliable camp power for site accommodation and critical operations, enabling the project to progress smoothly without disruption.
