Commenced on 1st July 2022 and still ongoing, the West Musgrave Project is one of Western Australia’s largest emerging copper and nickel developments, now operated by BHP. Located deep in the Great Victoria Desert, the site required a reliable and scalable power system capable of supporting both construction and long-term operations in one of the harshest environments in Australia.
Viking Industrial designed and delivered a tailored 11mW power solution, including 12 x 500kVA Tomahawk generators, Halo units for communications and data centre operations, and 36 solar trailerised lighting towers to ensure safety and efficiency across the site. When supply chain delays threatened to stall progress, Viking mobilised 30 generators, fuel cells, and distribution boards within 10 days, providing uninterrupted camp power and enabling construction to continue on schedule.
