For commuters travelling by road to Sydney Airport, traffic congestion and bottlenecks are an unwelcome but common sight. However, the Sydney Gateway connection is set to change that – and in this article we explain how Viking Industrial is helping to light the way in this important project.
What is the Sydney Gateway project?

The Sydney Gateway project is an essential part of Transport for NSW’s strategy to improve access to Sydney Airport. The toll-free motorway will run from the WestConnex interchange at St Peters, through to Sydney Airport in Mascot, The interchange will increase infrastructure and services in the areas surrounding the airport, to ease traffic congestion now and in the future.
Why is the project important?

According to former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, the Sydney Gateway connection will help fix notorious bottlenecks and congestion on the roads around the airport. It will improve traffic flow and is expected to cut travel times significantly, saving commuters travelling from Parramatta as much as 40 minutes, and those from Campbelltown up to 20 minutes.
The project also has an important role to play in preparing Sydney for the future. With New South Wales’ population expected to reach 12 million by 2056, world-class infrastructure is needed to accommodate this increase in growth.
How is Viking helping to power the project?
