Situated on Banjima land, 110 km northwest of Newman, Western Australia, the Gudai-Darri project involves construction of a new, autonomous iron ore mine plus an additional 166 km of rail infrastructure connecting the site to Rio Tinto’s existing rail network.
How is Viking helping to power the project?

The Viking Industrial team was engaged by Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (SCEE) as part of a multi-million dollar package awarded for Mine Plant Electrical and Instrumental works.
A range of temporary generators were provided to support on-site construction along with three standby generators totalling 3500kVA. All of these generators were custom built to Rio Tinto specifications, for the purpose of supplying emergency backup power to the mine. There are also opportunities for future upgrades.
